It's a...Reverse Harem
Sawyer Matthews is a retired and presumed-dead assassin. Ripped from her life of shadows and secrets, she’s decided to gamble it all and accept a new chapter in her life—one that may lead to a brighter future. New beginnings come with new problems, though, and she’s always lived by the belief that she doesn’t deserve of redemption—a painful truth Sawyer has held in her heart for years. Their first case takes the team to Texas, where members are confronted with more than just Sawyer’s painful past. The team is sent to deal with a series of suspicious deaths, but end up dealing with the community’s entrenched prejudices, an unregistered Magi at its heart. Nothing is what it seems as the killer enacts a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, and the team is sucked into a case even more sinister than they thought. Can Sawyer’s first case with the International Magi Police Organization help her to realize she’s deserving of the redemption offered? And what about her heart? Will she overcome its core of shame to learn she deserves even more than redemption?

Releases May 15th

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ LIFE OF SHADOWS!!!!

Synopsis:
Sawyer finally let go of the secrets, she told her story but will she ever let go of the guilt? Sawyer is now part of the team and as a new probationary member she must prove she can switch sides and play ball. Who is going to win Sawyer or the future Sawyer?  Will the Shadows drag her straight to where she always saw herself ending up.. dead or in jail?

"I didn't feel forced, Vincent," she cut him, using his favorite language. 'Don't insult me like that.' He jerked to a stop and looked back to her, 'If I ever felt forced to do anything, ' she whispered. 'You'll know. And you wouldn't survive the experience'."

Overall:
A Life of Shadows left us at a huge turning point for Sawyer her story in all of it's glory is out there. Midnight, Henry.. loving and hating Axel, becoming his assassin. This leaves a lot of emotional baggage that must be dealt with. This addition is to address a lot of that fall out. The guys must reconcile her body count with who Sawyer actually is and it isn't a quick and simple answer.

"Sawyer felt another small, tiny piece of her heart break for the last time. Some piece of her heart that must have been holding on to the precious few good moment and that naive childish love she'd had for the man that ruined her, that broke her into a thousand pieces. A tear rolled down her cheek."

Onto a lighter topic, something everyone who is reading this series wants to know is .. "when/where is the sex happening?". So decisions are made here, things WILL evolve fantastically but you won't see it coming. You'll be all like ok so she is/ is not going to sleep with A, B, C, D, or E then boom decisions are made and you .. DON'T SEE IT COMING!!!

So this book is a lot about getting from, "I love her", to "We love her". It is also about trying to find ones place after a lot of cruel shit has been thrown your way. But the plot is thickening and the team is sent to Texas to deal with a hate group who wants the Magi destroyed. Sadly hate is a known disease, and we see how in Sawyer's world it effects a certain member's history and a growing issue.

"'What was the message?' Jasper asked.
'God's will." Vincent whispered. 'He's with the Anti-Magi group... or playing it off as them.  This has now escalated.'"

So I will openly admit this Author can do no wrong in my eyes, I love her but this is an honest opinion of this book. This addition is about healing, moving forward and also slapping assholes around!!!! The team needs to deal with their personal drama, everyone needs to figure their feeling for Sawyer or so help me GOD! Then someone needs to slap-a-hoe for bigotry.
